I want to add two more Corys to keep my 2 C. Habrosus company, but I can't find any more pygmies in town. Are Pandas about the smallest non-pygmy?

What size tank? Your 5 corner tank? I believe that pandas are the smallest second to the pygmies, but they're not exactly small, especially not for a 5 corner. They can get to be 2 inches. They need room to swim around. http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_Corydoras_panda.php

Yeah, I'm really trying to find one of the pygmy species, but they just aren't around. I'm debating under-schooling the Corys or overstocking the tank.

Not sure which way to go.

I also believe Pandas get too large for a 5g....they can get a little over 2 inches.

C. habrosus are "dwarf" cories....not pygmy. ;) Pygmy cories are C. pygmaeus. Just a little pet peeve of mine.....

Any chance you can find C. hastatus or C. pygmaeus? They are other types of dwarf cories.

for a 5 gallon corner, pandas will get to big if you ahve a suitable group.

Agreed, but it would be 2 pandas hopefully schooling with the 2 pygmies.

I know I'm pushing the bio-load, but it's planted, has a bio-wheel and will get 2 33% WC per week. Additionally, a budget is set aside for a big tank in the basement once it is finished this summer (although planning on a bigger tank is not a great idea, I know).

I just don't know what is worse for the fish. Overcrowding, or under-schooling?

Wish I could. I've called all the LFS that I know of and there are no dwarf or pygmy Corys around. I had the first LFS hold 4 for me, and paid in full, but when I got there, there were only 2 left alive... I actually think there were 3, but the employee crushed one trying to net it. Last time I will ever buy fish there :(

It's not so much about bioload as it is swimming space. A 5 gallon anything is cramped for a 2 inch bottom dwelling fish, but the fact the tank is a corner tank means it's even more awkward. They need room to swim and get exercise.
