Ok I have a situation. I am currently treating the tank for a fungal infection with jungle labs fungal cure, But I have one guppy that I am not sure if it is fungal, or other. Her one gill fin seems to have a small growth on it. The fish eats normally, swims normally is otherwise acting normal. The one thing I noticed is that the one fin does not lay the way it is suppose to, but the fish doesn't seem to notice it. My hubby thinks that it may just have suffered an injury? I have tried to get pictures hopefully you can see what I am talking about. Any suggestions?? The tank has been treated now for approximatly 3 days, and all other fish seem to be fungus free. Also the guppy below, is acting normal, no signs of stress, and she is eating normally as well. Should i just assume that this is an injury, or could it be a tumor? How do I proceed, and will it affect my other fish, once I take the medication out of the water. I don't want to have to retreat, with the medicin, and it says to only leave in for 4 days, and if a second dose is needed to do a water change. I plan on doing a water change anyway, to clear all the medicne out of the water, but am concerned that once medicine is out of water, whatever this guppy has will transfer to my other fish? Am I being a worrywart?
You can see it clearly here

She has had this now for about a week, and doesn't seem to be getting any worse, but am not sure if that is because I have the meds in the tank. She fights to be the first one to get food in her mouth....

I understand what your concern is, but I can't really tell from the pictures. >_o They're kinda grainy. If she doesnt seem bothered by it at all, I don't think it's a huge problem, though.

I say finish your round of meds, and just proceed as normal. Keep an eye on the growth, and try to determine whether or not it's growing or changing colours or anything interesting like that. If it doesn't become anymore pronounced and never bothers her, it's probably nothing to worry about at all.

Ok but should I be worried that it will spread to other fish?? I just don't wnat her infecting my other fish, and me having to retreat the tank?

Hmmm. o_o You'll have to forgive me, I'm a bit of a noob, so I couldn't tell you if what she has may spread or not. I was only advising based on how I would proceed in your shoes. If you have a quarantine tank handy, it may be a good idea to isolate her just to be safe, not only to observe her spot, but also because she looks like she's preggers in those pics (that is, if you'd want to keep as many of the fry as possible)!

How long has she had it for? The growth, I mean. I do agree that it doesn't look much like fungus... It's sort of flesh-coloured, right? As opposed to white?

Yeah it is flesh colored. I just took her out and gave her a salt bath, and took a look at it, but still cannot figure out what it is????? I am going to put her in a seperate tank as soon as I do my water change.. But would still like to know what it is! She has had it now for a little over a week. Does not seem to be getting any worse. But I dunno if that is because there are meds in the tank preventing it from getting worse

Mah, I'm stumped! All I can say is that she certainly doesn't seem to be in critical condition if she's not showing any signs of discomfort at all, so don't lose your head over it quite yet. :)

I'm sorry I can't be of more help in IDing the lump. Hopefully someone else with more experience will come by soon. Good luck! I hope she does okay!

Anyone else with any ideas???

I would put her in a quaratine tank for a few weeks and try treating her with some Melafix or Pimafix...I forget which. Then study for any changes or healing, but definitley keep her in there for a while--maybe a few weeks.

P.S. That guppie looks like a mosquito eater, which are very hardy so I wouldn't worry about it that much.
