Any idea what this is? It's about 1/2 inch long, and hangs out on the back of the tank. It moves up and down a few inches, up to the top and back down to where it is now. Seems like it's eating algae, but I can't tell for sure.

Thanks.

It looks like a limpet. I have them in one of my freshwater tanks, and I do believe there is a marine version of them also.

It looks like somesort of a childs booger, try not to wipe it off as it will smudge on the glass, its best to leave on there.

It's not anything to worry about (like aptasia)?

In SW tanks, I believe they are only a worry if you have SPS corals as they will feed on the tissues of those corals.

It is a limpet and very few of them are harmfull to anything but algae. They are in fact one of the better algae eaters they are very hardy . I'd just keep an eye on it.
