What is this guy?

Thats what i was hoping they would be. However, the metriaclima solution doesnt explain the yellow finnage.

If you can, look for Metriaclima zebra from Chimwalani Reef; it has yellow dorsal fin. Also, M. zebra from Liwelo Rock has yellow dorsal fin and tail.

psudeotropeuos elongatious "chewree"

^ spelling is not correct I'm not fluent in typping english even so don't expect me to get latin correct

Cynotilapia afra would be my shot as well. 5" male afras aren't common, but not unheard of either.

I'm surprised a nice-looking fish like that wasn't labeled clearly. Out of curiousity, did he come out of a tank of "Mixed Africans", cwt24? That opens the hybrid can of worms, as well.

No, in fact, as I was in the store, very reputable here in the Philadelphia area, a woman came in with a bucket who was moving from Wilmington, and she had several of these fish. They dumped them in a tank, and she left. I watched them interact for a while, and when they colored up, I just had to have some. Hence, how they came into my ownership.

No problem my friend what makes me believe that its a afra sp. is the lips/jaws these guys have a powerful mouth structure but you were right to raise the question about the afra's they usually attain 3 inches give or take an inch here or there its a mix toss up when we place a fish in a glass box sorta does stuff to them, but cool hey if you actually take the fish out of the water and do a measurement let me know the actual size aye. take care my friend.. glad i was of help..

[FONT=arial,sans-serif][SIZE=-1]Pseudo Elongatus Mpanga Cichlid ...I have 3 of these guys, all around the 5"+ mark, I love how their tail will go a lemony yellow while the body stays deep blue and black. They look like pitbulls, but I have found them to be rather non agressive. It took me a long time to id these fellows also. Enjoy them, their moods are truly reflected in their colours.
