I looked into a tank today and saw this creepy invert. I took the best photos I could. It is a milky translucent color and about 3/8 of an inch long. Moves very slowly.

Has no shell.

Oh geeez, I hope not. Should I remove it?

I just had one of those pop up a couple of weeks ago...and another yesterday. They look to be leeches. Make sure you use an implement you don't care about to remove it...yesterday's never let go of the clear pudding cup that I used, even after I ran it under full-blast water for several minutes (but I wasn't going to touch it!)

I have never seen a transparent leech..
I dont know for sure, but I think its something else..

nevermind. I googled a few things, and It does appear to be a leech..

That is definetely a leech. Although I know what you're thinking, "It's going to suck my or my fish's blood!" these types of leeches feed on decaying plant material and are no danger to your fish.

that sounds like my kinda leech. you ever take a whiff of an old, brown leaf thats been in the tank for a while? nasty. i wonder if theyd make a good clean up crew for someone who sucks at keeping plants alive...

The way some of my plants are faring, I might be looking to hire some of those leeches. On the other hand they do rate pretty high on my Creepometer and I have faith in my plants: pull through fellas!

I keep visualizing it slowly swimming to the top of the tank then leaping out into my subsequently screaming face. Yeah okay, no leeches, dead plants or otherwise.
