What is this part on an air pump called?

I just got an air pump off Ebay. I think it's one of those generic, cheapo, made in China deals. So far it's surprisingly good!

that's good news... and thanks, BTW.

I think I still have an old Apollo air pump somewhere among the accumulated stuff that comes with 30 years of aquariums. Back in the day (20+ years ago) when it was new I was quite impressed with the volume of air it pushed, particularly since it wasn't expensive. Was pretty quiet too if I remember correctly, haven't seen those for quite some time.
These days I use Whisper AP 300's on most of my tanks, and a couple smaller/older Whisper pumps on the 30L and 20H.

I fixed the old one and it's better than before! I inserted two paper clips into the holes of the outlet and into the two holes in the pump (the holes run through these two parts) to stabilize it. Then I painted epoxy around the seam, let it dry and then I removed the paper clips. Then I epoxied some layers of fiber glass fabric with a hole punched through it around the outlet to brace it. It's more secure than before. I also am leaving a length of airline on it attached to a check valve and I'll just put a longer length of airline on and off the check valve so the outlet doesn't get touched, although it could handle it now.

And now I scrape airline off outlets with my nail when I need to remove them.

I realize that the part your speaking of rarely brakes as I have never had a nozzle brake off unless the pumpt is dropped. But its an opportunity for me to say that 99% of air-pump malfunctions really can be avoided buy placing the pump above the water like. I used to go through pumps like crazy until I finally tried what the instructions recommend about having them above not below the tanks. After keeping them above that tanks all the repair and weak pump problems just stopped happening lol.
