What is this? Planeria?

It's a midge larva; totally harmless. Give it a few weeks and it will metamorphose into a long-legged feathery-antennaed little fly. It is probably in the family Chironomidae, and so a close cousin of 'bloodworms'.

That's not disgusting... anyway, I say suck em out, and have you put any plants from a chain store in that tank recently? That is how I got a nasty larvae in mine. I think my pig gouramis ate the thing...
 
that is not any midge larvae..chironomidae (aka bloodworms) I have seen.
I've seen plenty don't really swim..the larvae actually live in detritus..it is in the pupae stage when they slowly rise to the top..they struggle at the surface and hatchout... they usually don't get much larger than 1/2"(chironomid midge)

it does swim like a leach tho

btw midge larvae(pupae) are great fish food. if that was a real bloodworm your fish will love it.
