IDK if I am in the right thread section but I need help. I recently came across some fish equipment in my attic I was wondering.
1. What are they
2. how do they work
3. R they good for a 40g?
4. What are they worth
Any help is greatly appreciated.Um fish stuff 001.jpg

I can give it a shot.
Looks like the first 4 are parts from a filter, you might be able to figure out how they fit together
# 5 looks like an air bubbler
# 6 - I have no clue
#7 - Gravel vac/siphon
# 8 Heater, like you said. Looks like a kinda crappy one, not sure if I would trust it. Probably best to by a nice new one by VisiTherm.

Ok are they worth keeping?

I wouldn't trust any of it. The epoxy seal around the electric products will go brittle and over time and seep electricity into your water. The air pump will properly be noisy (modern ones are a lot quieter) and unreliable. The syphon and air valves should be good still though.

The syphon is what and the air valve is what? What pic I mean?

Name that part!

Numbers 1-4 are pieces from an Aquaclear filter, an excellent brand. You'd at least need to buy media for it, and I'd assemble it and hang it over a bucket of water and run it to make sure the motor still works.

Numbers 5-6 are just miscellaneous parts (five is probably an air pump). I wouldn't keep them.

Seven is a gang valve for an air line that probably went with the pump in five. Again, a cheap part. I'd just get a new one.

Eight is an old heater. I wouldn't trust it. There's too much that can go wrong and harm your tank's inhabitants. Like the other poster said, just get a new visi-therm stealth, instead.

I plugged the filter in and it wuz uber noisy! The air bubler pump thingy just vibrated,
