what is this?

anybody know what and if this is a disease of some sort?
the synodontis is the only tank mate that has this "ragged fin" and
some whitening on the edges.

He seems to be very lathargic as well.

I am having some ammonia problems right now. ammonia is at 1, nitrite = 0, nitrate = 0
ph = 6

could be the start of fin rot... the ammonia needs to be brought down to zero as you already know.... you may need to treat with Salt...

Doing plenty of water changes should be sufficient enough to avoid further damage.

Could be the start of ich, could be the start of a bacterial infection.... get your ammonia under control with water changes as any disease treatment will be aided with healthy water parameters. 0 nitrates indicates your tank is not cycled or is undergoing a mini-cycle. How was the tank cycled before stocking?

Sure fin rot too.... its all in play with an ammonia of 1.0 ppm.

I did a 50% WC. I will do another one tomorrow. Why is it only happening to my synodontis? All other tank mates are ok
