What is this???

I cleaned out the filter of my invert tank today, and among the baby shrimp and snails in gunk that collects in the bottom of the filter i found this little bugger.
He moves a little faster than a snail. Looks just like a slug minus the shell just kinda swims around in cirlces in the cup i found. It is smaller than the diameter of the dime. Maybe the radius of the penny or a nickel. So what is it? Freshwater slug? Leech? Planaria?

Bare's a striking resemblance to a leech, but cannot confirm from those pics...

I agree, it looks like a leech to me too.

How exactly does it move? I think that leeches sort of inch along, alternating moving the front end and the back end. I've never heard of leeches "swimming" per se.

They can swim, and very well at that! My cousin had a few latch onto him in open lake water.

it moves like a snail....just kinda sliding along...i am gonna go with it being a leech and it is sliding itself around the bottom of the cup. ill just dispose of it eventually

I say dissect it, and run lotsa unusual tests on it. Cut off the head before it controls your brain...

Sounds like a plan to me...maybe i can get its plasmids. Sadly when i thought it was a leech i thought, well i can put it on my finger and see if it latches on...thatd be a good test!
Anywho, begin the experimentation!
