So I came home from work just now and saw this in the pirhana tank. Just did a water change yesterday and put the prime in like I always do. What is this?

are we talking cloudiness of the water? if so it sure looks like an ammonia bloom to me or possibly the beginnings of an algae bloom

It has no smell. So I doubt it's ammonia. Can algeae bloom be whit?

I had it happen in my tank once where i had an algae bloom that started out cloudy like this. I checked my water parameters cuz i thought it was an ammonia spike but everything was normal. the next day my water was greenish and 2 days later you couldnt see what was in the tank from all the green. Have you checked your water parameters? Or recently did a water change and rinsed filter media with tap water. I had an ammonia spike one time when I washed the filter media with tap water (one of my doh! moments) and the water didnt have an odor that i noticed to it.

We did a water change yesterday filters and all same way I've been doing it since I had this tank and nothing like this. But now that I'm thinking about it we put some fluval peat in a media bag and in the hob 350 to color and soften the water. I wonder if this is what happens when it starts to run out.

It looks like a bacteria bloom to me. Are you sure you haven't had any amonia or nitrite spikes?

I did about 3 weeks ago. It was a small one so I did a water change and added prime and checked it again after that and it was fine

When I get home in the morning I'm going to do a 50% water change and see if that clears it up
