I had to break down my tank about 5 months ago due to several moves, got rid of my livestock and I am now in the process of putting it back together. I loved my diamondback goby and my fire shrimp, although the goby was very territorial and rearranged my whole tank. I was thinking about a pistol shrimp/shrimp goby combo. deciding what to put in is so difficult. there are so many fascinating fish. it's a 29 gal with decent pc lighting and a 4 inch sand bed and will have about 30lbs of liverock in it. I prefer non-agressive species. What do you guys and gals like? I am not in a big hurry. I am getting it going this weekend with the sand bed, next week I'll put in the liverock, just wanted to carefully consider my stocking options.

Although the Radiata Lion is the centre piece of my two tanks, i still love the clowns (percula) so much personality in hardy colourfull little fish.

For a 29, my first choice would be an angler. Just awesome fish! But, that will really limit it to a species tank, since they aren't aggresive, they will eat anything that fits in their rather large mouths.

For a community setup, I'd go with 2 cleaner shrimp, and a pistol shrimp goby with pistol shrimp, maybe a pygmy angel.

Pigmy wrasses are neat and underapretiated, fascinating and intelligent are most of them, not to mention the colorations are unbelievable, but are more sensitive fish.

Dottybacks and Grammas are good fish for small setups also and are brilliantly colored and active, sometimes downright scrappy.

As far as my favorite fish, for colorations would be Queen Angel or Blue Faced, sometimes called Yellow Faced Angel.

For intelligence and inquisitiveness, I like Clown Triggers, most Triggers fall into this catagory but they are my favorites, tho they are exteremely aggressive.

Also a very active and intelligent fish is a Mexican Rainbow Wrasse and many with the same behavioral patterns like Klunzingers, Sunset, and Lunar, etc. .

Of course most of these aren't something you would even consider in a small setup :)

My fave fish has to be the firefish, but as freddy said "get a school" i would definately not especially not in a 29 gal. in mine they became so territorial that only one mated pair survived. =[ :thud:
