What is your favorite poem?

I like Robert Frost's the Road Not Taken, I think that's what it's called and that one of his that was on " The Outsiders". I used to have the highwayman memorized but I don't know who wrote it. When I was a kid I loved Shel Silverstien. I'm not really that big into poetry.

I LOVE Carl Sandburg too!:D

Im a fan of "The Raven" by Poe

Just a little peice:

Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore.
"Though thy crest be shorn and shaven,
thou," I said, "art sure no craven,
Ghastly grim and ancient raven wandering from the Nightly shore-
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!"
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."

Molcular..I do like Poe!! He is wonderfully gruesome. I like the short stories and poetry. When you get to The Fall of the House of Usher it's rather long.

I like one by John Donne:

THE BROKEN HEART

HE is starke mad, who ever sayes,
That he hath been in love an houre,
Yet not that love so soone decayes,
But that it can tenne in lesse space devour;
Who will beleeve mee, if I sweare
That I have had the plague a yeare?
Who would not laugh at mee, if I should say,
I saw a flaske of powder burne a day?

Ah, what a trifle is a heart,
If once into loves hands it come!
All other griefes allow a part
To other griefes, and aske themselves but some;
They come to us, but us Love draws,
Hee swallows us, and never chawes:
By him, as by chain'd shot, whole rankes doe dye
He is the tyran Pike, our hearts the Frye.

If 'twere not so, what did become
Of my heart, when I first saw thee
I brought a heart into the roome,
But from the roome, I carried none with mee:
If it had gone to thee, I know
Mine would have taught thine heart to show
More pitty unto mee: but Love, alas,
At one,first blow did shiver it as glasse.

Yet nothing can to nothing fall,
Nor any place be empty quite,
Therefore I thinke my breast hath all
Those peeces still, though they be not unite;
And now as broken glasses show
A hundred lesser faces, so
My ragges of heart can like, wish, and adore,
But after one such love, can love no more.

the other piece of his I like is the " no man is an island" quote from a narrative.

when I was in high school we did "The fall of the house of usher" as a play and I was the woman who was buried alive. I had to lay in a coffin for a very long time with the lid on. Kinda creepy. I always liked the tell-tale heart and the cask of amontialldo(sp.?) but they're not poems.
