What is your favorite tank for a betta?

I like tanks with ample swimming room, good filtration without too much flow, and a heater for a betta. I kept my betta with guppies and an amano shrimp and he left them alone. It all depends on the temperament of your betta.

so true, i have one that is unbelievably chill with tank mates, just not too "flashy" ones. my other one is... well he has some anger issues.

I'm looking to move my betta out of the Eclipse Hex 5. Over a period of 3 years, the plastic is too scratched and cloudy. I also had to turn off the filter altogether, as the water movement was too much for the little guy. Today, I bought an Eclipse 10 gallon half moon from Petsmart, and was excited to get back to glass. But the first one I bought was cracked in the back, and when I exchanged it and brought the replacement home, it leaked when I filled it! Oy! The search continues....

I'm with Rb here... I've got to go with a 10g.

A 10 is a good size, your Betta will be happy, and theres room for a few other things.....:)

....I bought him the hex 5. He seems to be much livelier in the Hex 5 (or as lively as a betta can or will be).

I find that bettas get livelier and livelier in proportion to the space you give them. One of mine is in a 20, and he's all over the place, all the time. Like others have said, I'd go for a 10, if you've got the room.

I had mine in a 5 gal and although he appeared to get enough activity I agree with the 10 gal with lots of plants :) I think they enjoy "some" water movement as well. Any other fish or invertabrates I would add first before the betta so he doesn't claim it all. LOL

i got my betta in a 10 gal i tried the add new fish first him a few weeks later didnt work with mine lol his so greedy an like a 10 gal to himself, and i had to move him bk to a 5 gal for some reason an he didnt like it so i go with a nice 10 gal :) makes for a nice happy fish

I got 3 betta males one is still in his cup the second is in a 5gal with some snails im thinking of parting with (snails not the betta) and my 3rd betta is in a 20gal I bought from walmart those gift packs. I didnt like the filter though so I bought a new one a Aquaclear 70 wanted the added filtration. I does create alot of water flow but my betta doesnt seemed bothered by it rather it swims in the current alot. Builds his bubble nest behing the water output thing where the water barely moves. He is the most active followed by the one in the 5gal then well the one in the cup just chills. Bigger is better but a 5gal I think should be minimum.

If I could do it over, I would definitely get the standard 5g, glass or acrylic. It's perfect for the little ledge on my desk (used to be the patient registration desk for physical therapy, lol), has a good amount of room for swimming and equipment, and I can get whatever filter and heater I want without having those cheapo kit equipment laying around afterwards.
