What kind is the catfish? Channel?! help he is getin big!

Thanks alot for the help. I have alot of friends who have tanks so it shouldnt be a problem finding him a home. I just wish i had been informed when i got him and not got attached to him. If you can do that with fish..get attached... Anyway, i guess im gonna have to get rid of my gold fish..they are fancy.. My black moore tho is one i am worried about...he eye is gettin worse, but he is swiming fine. I dont know what else to do, i treated for two weeks. Is there such thing as ending his suffering. I have asked the store for help several time in "curing" him. :0( I am tryin my best to keep him well and he is in a tank bu himself so he can be at peace and not have to move out of the way of any other fish.

You can keep the fancies, I said to get rid of non-fancies. Also, keep the black moor, its a fancy goldfish (if you want the goldfish setup). For the moor, just keep his water extremely clean and keep medicating. You might also want to try some salt and raise the temperature a bit to and see if that helps. Best of luck to you, and whichever setup you choose, research a bit on it, this site is a good place to start and post any questions here too.

Let's just say this is a normal sized one I caught at a local river...and they do get BIGGER!

It is a Channel Cat that you need to rehome asap. Also, you need to choose between the tropicals and the goldfish. Their needs differ.

in all honesty, i don't know how sensible it is to rehome a channel cat. unless the OP's friends work in an aquarium, have 5-600g tanks or have private ponds, there's no good place for this fish to go. i'm sure it sounds cruel, but if a truly proper home can not be found (and realistically it would have to be one of the above things i mentioned), it would be best to euthanize the fish now while it is still relatively small and it can be done quickly and humanely without too much struggle.

it's not fair to the fish to be passed around from one unsuitable home to another, and it's not fair for each successive owner to have to try and find a way to "deal with" this fish as it gets bigger and eats their other fish (because i doubt that someone who is informed up front about its size will make the decision to take it on).

I agree:

As inhumane as it sounds this fish isn't going to lead a good life unless you have really good connections with people in your area with large, large tanks and the willingness to deal with a monster fish.

Next step would be to go to the store that sold you this fish and gave you the misinformation and let them know of what they are actually selling.

im positive its a albino channel catfish i also have one named bubbles thats 5" long
