What kind of background for a planted tank?

I'm going to have to agree with everyone else here and say that Black is a better color for a background.

black, blue, green ,etc etc...i have tried all that before. instead of painting the background, u could use one of those foam background, or better still use oak skin which is rather expensive.

Thanks

Nice picture, i do enjoy when people post their tanks pictures.

I prefer a mirror, makes the tank look bigger than it is, no matter what size.

-just hope the fish don't run into the side, hehe.

The least attractive tank background I've seen lately IMHO was one that had pictures of fish in among the plants.

Personally I think the blue takes away from the fish' color. I would go for black. This project looks really cool though and I'm planning on doing it with the black behind it:
Grotto

I would hate to have to clean that thing....

As far as backgrounds go, i usually use jet black posterboard, have it lamenated at the Office Depot for a couple bucks, and then double-stick tape it to the back of my tanks. Looks good, easy to take off if you need to, etc. Oh, and black > blue imho, just looks neater.
