What kind of eel is this?

im new to SW, but know alot about eels...
I do not think that is a zebra.. usually zebras have much darker stripes and perfectly straight lines going down their bodys... they also have a black stripe at the end of their "beeks".
he does have a black stripe at the end of his mouth, you can see it if you look closely at the picture. I think he looks lighter in the picture because he was up in front of the powerful lights.

What should I name him? I am thinking of naming him Gunther.

How quickly do eels grow? How soon will it be before he outgrows my 65? I would like to upgrade eventually to maybe a 150 to accomodate him, but I don't have the space any time soon.

i'm not sure, but I don't think they grow all that fast.

I was thinking he looks like a slick...

I take it that this new eel doesn't look like you zebra eel that you state you already have. Do you have a picture of the original one? I think the new one is a zebra, and in looking for pics of them on 3 different sites I found 3 similar but different enough from each other pictures of zebra eels, the last of which looked like your new one.

Nice Eel, good luck with it.

I've had a zebra for 2 years now and he is a big baby!! He backs down from the chromis and almost had his food taken away from him by an aggresive hermit crab. Next time he will eat faster. He is over 2 ft. long, but was close to 2 ft when I got him. He lives in a 150 with several small fish, he doesn't seem to mind them or the hermits or snails. That being said I don't think I would trust him to much with hermits, mine are large and like to live life on the edge (why else would they try and steal his food). I use to hand feed, but have gotten away from that because he has become a little more aggresive when eating and realized that it was an overall stupid idea to do anyways (I value my fingers). Overall I have loved having mine and everybody that comes to my house likes seeing him, I hope you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed mine.
