My water tends to get a bit of a yellow tinge to it, but it's heavily planted, features many large bronze Crypts & I dose ferts pretty generously, including Fe, so it's just going to get that way toward PWC time (every other week, 50% for me).

Yellow water typically means there is a lot of dissolved organics in the tank. The thing to do is replace the filter cartridge (or atleast the carbon) and do a 50% water change. That should clear things up for you.
