thats a lil RAM that you got their. they are an incredible dwarf cichlid that make a great addition to most fish tanks.

Not quite sure where this "German Blue" stuff has come from. It's a Ram, aka Butterfly Dwarf Cichlid. I'm not keen on marketing nomenclature.

Well, they're blue rams, to identify them from bolivians. I thought the "german" part was that the colours were enhanced in germany, maybe.

The most accurate common name for this species is "blue ram". The "German" part comes from that fact that there are color varieties that have been bred out of Germany, as well as other parts of Europe such as the Czech Republic. However, most blue rams are now imported from Asia, so the name GBR is a misnomer for many specimens.
