Personally i like colourful carnations and they usually last for a couple of weeks too. My flowers last year lasted a whole Month lol.

I really like scented flowers like freesias, they are very delicate flowers with a gorgeous smell and quite inexpensive. Here is a picture of some.
I like some of the mixed bouquets they sell..they are usually cheaper, and something different, and are usually very pretty. A dozen roses is too cliche, and not to mention outlandishly expensive right around valentines day.

A potted flowering plant the gift that keeps on giving and that way you wont have to keep filling that new vase you gave her for dead plants! At least that's what my girlfriend told me she asked directly for me to never buy her cut flowers she would prefer them planted and growing so she can get more enjoyment out of them!
i say get her a bunch of white roses with one red(or pink) rose in the middle. or maybe a rose bush if you can find one.
