you will be very limited due to their water needs and diet. Maybe a coldwater loach, some white clouds or snails. Bu tthe tank has to be big enough to support them all.

To answer your question- very much so. I once had two red cap orandas- and one of them died due to a tragic accidental chemical overdose- the other one started moping around, and didn't cheer up until I bought another one to go in with him. Not only do they like the company of other goldfish- they do best with it.

Here are some big goldfish I thought I'd share. The feeder (Huey) is being rehomed tomorrow, along with his mates Dewey III and Louie II 
(I just realized that the brown stripe just to the front of Huey's anal fin on the bottom picture is poo floating up . . . in case anyone was curious. Dirty, dirty fishies!)
