Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but there is a difference between aquarium salt and marine salt. You would need marine salt. Aquarium salt is for treating things like ich, not for making brackish or salt water.
"Aquarium salt" is just that: salt, and in short is not composed of enough chemicals to simulate brackish water. You need marine salt mix like you would use in a saltwater aquarium, used at aprox. half strength for the average brackish water fish (some require less, some require more) in order to simulate brackish water.
Yes, get actual salt meant for saltwater tanks. While Aquarium Salt may be dried sea salt, it will not work its way back to the same composition it came from. Instant ocean is a brand that would work, there are others as well.
If these F8's are already in brackish at the fish store then make sure you match SG's (you will need something like a hydrometer to measure you SG when mixing change water). If these F8's are currently in freshwater take the change to brackihs very slowly, no more than 0.002 SG per every few days at most will be safe.

I do not believe so. Density can be affected by temperature. SG is a relationship between pure water and the liquid you are testing. It may have a standard temp that it's baseline is taken at, but even pure water varies density at different temps. Somebody yell at me if I'm out to lunch. :help:
