What kind rocks do i need for the auarium?

Are you talking about regular rocks or substrate?

I'd suggest not ordering online, since you'll pay freight charges. ....for very heavy stuff.

Rocks are pretty much your preference, but if you tell what sort of fish you have, people might have suggestions.

I got my rocks for free from Lake Huron and Lake Superior, also from several river banks.Just be sure to clean them thoroughly before you put them in your tank.

As Stingray recommended to me, you can also go to a masonry/rock/mason type of shop where they sell brick and rock for houses/landscaping. Sometimes they'll have loose slate you can purchase for alot less than lfs or builders' supply.

If you use found rock make sure it's not porous--it can leach toxins into your tank water. I've found the recommendation here at AC to be drip some vinegar onto the rock, and if there's a reaction, the stone is not acceptable.
Good luck!! :dive2:

I got all kinds of sutff from Miami beach!

I walked along the sea shore, and got all kinds of corals and shells. But I do not recommend putting sea stuff in a fresh water tank because they will change the water parameters. And if you do put them in a saltwater tank you need to get a pot and boil them I boiled mine for over a half hour!

lava rock, slate, river rocks all safe. you can find them in most petstores
and some landscaping centers have them for pretty cheap, cheaper than petstores that is
if you get rocks from outside clean them good and do boil them. id sit the rock in water for 48 hours and test the water to make sure it doesnt raise the ph
you wanna clean it good just in case it came from an area that used fertalizer close by

Clean rocks are the best

And you can get them from anywhere as long you clean them well. It really depends what you want, you should look up the term "Biotope" this will help you immensely, it helped me. Usually water worn rocks like pebbles are good because they look natural. They have that shape because of the water running over them for so long! http://badmanstropicalfish.com/bio-type.html
