What kinda pleco?

When I got my pleco, oh so long ago he was advertised as a butterf pleco at the LFS, but in doing research lately I see pics of butterfly plecos not even close to what I have, so is he a butterfly or what is he.

he should be okay there for a bit..sometimes they grow fast..so you may either have to get a bigger tank or trade him..

btw, I hope you have really good filtration(read as high flow rate) these cats(plec's) are poop macines..I have to admit tho..they are a very attractive cat when thy get older.

I've had him for about a year now, and he's pretty much slowed growing for the most part. But I do plan on building a 150 here soon

But believe me I know all about the pooping machine. Though it is kinda humorous seing a trail of poop wrapped around everything in the tank....

That is the reason common names are so awful. I've seen hillstream loaches called butterfly plecos, and there is even 2 plecos called a butterfly plecos (L168 and L052). It gets confusing very fast when common names are used.
