What kinds of fish should I get for a 2.5 gallon aquarium?

It's Cory Lover's cat!
Hey, peeps. I'm getting a 2.5 gallon MiniBow, any ideas for fish? And if someone recommends one fish, I don't want you to recommend it again. I get the point the first time. So please help?

Plastic fish would look nice.

Or glue a handle on it and use it as a giant beer mug :p:

I have a 2.5 g, that I got at auction for really little--I am not sure what I can put in it. I'd thought a betta, but someone said that was too small. Would a dwarf puffer work in there?

actually, bettas need 1-3 gallons of tank space. 2.5 gal. is actually a large home for a betta! go ahead, put a betta in that tank. I've seen bettas live 2 1/2 years in teenie betta vases (they have a 2-3 yr. lifespan), so you can put a betta in a 2.5 gallon. to the person who said that was too small, they are imbiciles. Bettas can actually get scared and die if the tank is bigger than 3 gal.

where did you elarn that? many people have bettas in tanks of 10 gallons and the bettas live longer and have better colors than if they are in cramped quaters

I know--that is why I hesitate about putting a betta in the 2.5--I'd thought I might use it as a snail hospital. I want to build up the shells on my mystery snails, and that might work to house one or two for a couple of weeks with calcium supplements and veggies. I have an ugly as sin 5g, that I might set up for a betta--but I only have a cheep corner sponge filter--would that work for a betta. Also--to further hijack the thread--what kind of heater could I get for a betta in a 5g?

bettas love big spaces!i have six females that have a 30 gal to themselves, the one galtanks are tenporary,i personaly hate keeping them in the little tanks.i have had a betta in a ten gal that lived for five years, bettas are very curious critters and they love exploring so keeping them in something small is mean.before i had the females in the 30 gal i had a single male and some guppies and he used every inch of his tank.
