this is why i like reading books for info and experiences i have had and then comparing with info on the web to see what is real and whats not. all of the books i have read say that bettas need at least 5 gallons. on the web anybody can go and post things, and most of the time on sites like this one there are people with really good info, but there are also people that swaer by the rules given to them by their LFS that dont work, like the aquarium salt and gallon/ inch garbage started by some comercial chains :thud:
i never said that you didnt keep bettas for long.ILOVEBETTAS said:Excuse me? I have been keeping bettas for years now. Maybe we each hear something different. Jerk.
TastierWay said:Uh, bettas live in slow flowing streams, ponds and rice paddies. Why in the world would they get SCARED in anything bigger than that? How silly. My betta lives in a ten gallon and will soon be upgrading to a 55 and he is having a blast. In fact, the betta I had before was enjoying his ten gallon to himself and then I had to downsize him to a bowl until he was ready to go back in(QT) and he was pretty much a downer about it. When he went back in his ten gallon, he was overjoyed.
I ran around yahoo answers by the way trying to correct the idiocy that is spewed around on there. Those people rarely know anything. A few have extensive knowledge and everyone else is just ignorant.
