What media would you recommend? I have an Aquaclear 110. I have been using the Aquaclear sponge, carbon and bioballs. Is there something else that is better? My tank has been clear and but I want the best for my fishes :D

bioballs are only good in large quantitys (gallons)
The industry standard is 2.2 gallons of bioballs per 100 gallons of tank. That is only true in a wet/dry, not when they are submerged.

If I was you, I'd ditch the carbon and buy 2 packs of biomax for the AC110. Keep the sponge obviouslly.
The biomax has way more surface area than bioballs.

Biomax? Can I get that from a Pet shop?

yep! It's the biological media that they sell with aquaclear filters. You can get a box for an AC110 for about $8

Keep in mind it doesn't actually have to be Biomax. That's just the brand name that Hagen uses with their aquaclear / fluval filters. There are other brands of ceramic bio material available from other manufacturers. Myself I would go with one sponge and one layering of bio material. That is keep enough room to add activated carbon later if it should become necessary.

I throw out the bio-max and use two sponges with filter floss between them. If the filter is being used for more mech filtration, then I cut one sponge in half and stack floss-1/2sponge-floss-full sponge. I then cut a sponge prefilter to go over the intake.

I run 20 assorted ACs all loaded in this fashion.

Carbon is used only for specifc needs not as a regular media.

Thanks everyone for the help. I will be redoing my filter this weekend.

I have 30+ Aquaclears running currently, all are either three sponges or two sponges + biomax....and my tanks are great.
