I have a fat and spoiled (by 8 different family members) mixed black lab, too many different species of pet chickens, pigeons, ducks, parrots, turtles, and a lone bullfrog (that's somewhere in my mom's garden). I would love to get a cat but my dog hates cats and kills stray ones when they come to our yard. Used to have pet squirrels but that was a few years ago.
We have the three tanks, two ferrets, three cats, and three chickens. Used to do rodents and reptiles and other birds when I was younger, but we've really scaled things back. As much as I enjoyed some of those pets, I'll stick to admiring from afar...the ability to spend more quality time with my husband and the pets with more personality is totally worth it to me.
I have a 3 year old Lhaso Apso we rescued about a year ago, he has a lot of problems but is still a pretty good dog. We also just bought a Bichon and Schitzu mix from one of those crappy mall pet stores with the dogs in cages. Apparently buying a dog from there was such a morally correct act of charity that it must be brought up all the time. The Bichon-Schitzu mix is really awesome though, despite doing typical puppy stuff (eating paper, toys, his own poop, ect. )
