Just curious but what PH do you Oscar lovers keep your tanks at. Over the years I've read, and heard of so many different opinions that I start to wonder what is the best PH for an O. Yes they are hardy fish and can thrive in many different levels( assuming it remains constant ) but what is the best. Your thoughts.

there are few wild caught fish in the hobby today. there really isn't a "best" for most tank or farm raised fish. such fish are generationally removed from their native water and associated chemistry and thus, will adapt/acclimate to whatever your water chemistry is within reasonable limits. the key is stability. for oscars, anywhere between 6.7-8.2 would be just fine.
I happen to have a wild caught fish, and I keep him in water that would equalize at about 8.0. With Co2 injection (On most of the time) it stays in the 6.8-7.2 range depending on time of day.
I have kept oscars in much higher pH without any incendent or problem.

I couldn't kill my piglet Oscars if I tried. Those things are so hardy the only thing that might kill them is like a 15 degree temperature shock, or long term lack of water changes leading to HIH (Hole in Head).
