Got these plants and placed them in latherite-rich gravel, and they started rotting from the base up. Are they high-maintenance plants?

The first pic looks like Rorippa aquatica (excellent specimen) and the second looks like a Bocopa. I'm not positive but I think the Roripa needs cooler temperature. I've never been able to keep it alive.

Second looks like Hemianthus Micranthemoides aka Baby tears to me. I just got some from Walmart of all places.

I am pretty sure the first pic is Pogestemon helferi <downois> and the second is Hemianthus callitrichoides <look at his fingers conpared to the HC...it is way smaller than HM>

and yes, without good light, ferts and CO2 these will have a hard time

<Rorippa is very different from Downois>

Well, whether it is HC or HM it looks like what I have in my tank and it has started growing roots, since I put it in Friday. I only have two 10 watt fluorescent lights over it and it is a 10 gallon tank, so that must be enough light. Here's a picture: Does that look like it? HC that is.

Sammie you have HM, he has immersed growth HC...his is smaller and less branchy. HM is less demanding...it branches out and can be bushy....HC is a carpet plant, and in order to grow it you need nutrient rich soil, a carbon source and great light.

Ok
