What sand? (tanks back!!!!!!!)

The brand i have heard people prefer and i plan on using is the Quikrete Playsand. you need to rinse it once or twice (not a whole lot) and sand usually doesint collect particles rather hover it or 'magnatize it.. so you can just skim the surface of the sand with a gravel vac and if you wanna help airate it you can add perculite to it <--- make sure to soak it so it sinks

well i decided not to go with play sand. what do u guys think about the stuff in that link?

anyone else know where to get pool filter sand? i think its a lot cheaper than the stuff in the link.

I think everyone just has their own prefrence, but I have had the playsand (don't remember the brand) in 3 tanks, (2FW 1BW) for over a year now my water has stayed fine I've had no problems what so ever haven't lost any fish do to water (lost my BW tank with the ice storm...but I was without power for 5 day's) you do have to vaccum over the sand to get the debre off the top and I do aerate (misspelled?) the sand once in a while. I wanted the black moonsand but due to price difference I opted for the playsand I figured I could use the extra 20 bucks or so for other stuff for the tank.

Good luck with your choice, I'm sure whatever you choose will be fine. No matter what you go with you will have some say "this would be better" and such, but IMO it's really just personal prefrence. :)

2) how many pounds of rock does it usually take to fill up a 125g?
3) where can i find pool filter sand?
4) what are some brand names...maybe that you use?
5) what are somethings on the bag, like info so i know if i found the right stuff?
.

I too have a 125 Gallon and have a divider that goes only half way up and is about a quarter in.

I want to make my own seperata part of the tank for a bunch of plant growth that I can maintain in that section to the right.
Would sand be good for growing a bunch of plants close together or just keep the gravel I have in there righ tnow?

well i went to home depot today and they didnt have any type of pool filter sand, and now that is lowes and home depot. is it just my area or something to do with the season? is there somewhere i can get it on the internet? please post if you have info
