Well I am about to get another 55g and it needs some TLC so it may be a while but, I wanted to get a few live plants and wanted to know what schooling fish wont eat them. They will be housed with 3 senegal bichirs, two midnight catfish.I was thinking along the lines of 4 silver dollars, 6-8 tiger barbs, or 4 tinfoil barbs. size doesn't matter as the barbs would go into my 360 when finished if they where 8+.. also ill be using two shoplights=4-48" bulbs, what kinda plants do you recomend. NO co2

Cardinal tetras Neon Tetras, blue tetras <tetras in general> , Rasboras of any kind, rainbowfish.... just to name a few~

Silver dollars will make a salad bar out of your plants. :)

Pretty much any tetra will work. The only ones I've heard of eating plants is Buenos Aires and I think they just nibble. Rasboras are another option.

I would say the tiger barbs would be the best choice out of that group. They don't get too large so you can have a nice sized school.

Silver dollars will be a lawn mower service to the plants. The rest of the other fish mentioned should do fine.

small tetras will just be a snack for my bichirs. So im gunna get like 6-8tiger barbgs and 6-8 giant danios. Will danios eat plants? also what kinda of in expensive bulbs can I use? i have one shoplight for now but im adding another one

Rosy Barbs too....they pick at hair algae~

Well i need something my bichir wont eat, wich is near impossible. so i might just buy 3-4 tinfoil barbs cause they get too large.

In this case I think congo tetras would work nicely and provide a splash of color.
