I have a 5 gallon that's been running for a while. I had shrimp in there (Crystal Red, and Red Cherries) but I guess it's too small for them and my room gets hot in the day... so they're mostly all gone.

I changed jobs and they wouldn't let me bring my 12g there, so I brought the 12g home, so now I'm thinking of bringing the 5g to work... what should I put in there? It is growing a java moss backwall, and I have millions (well 25) of marimo moss balls... what should I put in the tank?????

I don't really want another betta since I got that at home already.

You could get two male, or female platies, and a half dozen ghost shrimp. The platies are awesome friendly and colorful, not to mention very durable.

Another option is a dwarf gourami and a couple of snails/shrimp, or a small school of neons (6 would be ok, but you would need to make sure your water perams were just right first.)

could go for a school of Spotted Rasboras... they stay small at 1 inch.
Or some endlers livebearers.

If you like Aggresive fish id suggest Pirhanas. But the tank may be a bit small. Or Id say maybe some African Chichlide. But African Frogs seem cool as well :) Goodluck with your choice

I know you said you do not want a betta but I am assuming that you are referring to a male betta. Have you thought about a couple of female bettas with possibly a snail. With all the plants in that tank I am sure they would think they were living in a paradise.

Those are good choices, I'm liking the dwarf puffer idea. How many can I get... also, is there anything that I can get that would dig around in the moss balls since it is an absolutely low-lying plant so it'd be cool to have something that would stir it up a little... maybe some kuhli loaches (again how many) and are they capatible with the dwarf puffers. Some guy at the pet store said dwarf puffers goes well with bumblebee gobies... that's another thought I'm toying with. Also the frog sounds cool, but haven't seen them in Hawaii so I think they're illegal here.
