What species is my fish?

I've got two new fish :D and they're adorable! But when the pet shop people told me what species they were, i was being a bit absent minded, and didn't listen properly, but it sounded like Ordana or Ordaka or something like that.

Could someone help tell me what this likely is? My fish have long, floaty fins, and one (the orange one) sort of looks like a small goldfish but with long, black fins.

Thanks!

P.S. With this species, can you tell the difference between male and female? I would quite like to breed them (possibly, it depends) :)

I'd guess Oranda too, its a popular type of fantail goldfish..... on a side note, if you didn't catch the breed at the store, are you sure you've got a tank big enough for the two? They need really large tanks because of the crazy amounts of waste they give off. Just curious :)

you DEFINITELY won't want to breed goldfish until you've been in the hobby quite a while and you've got the difference between a ryukin and a ranchu down pat, not to mention a lot more about fish in general. even then, it's a long, involved process and you need a lot of room and a lot of knowledge.

you're probably talking about an oranda.

do some research before you buy any goldfish. contrary to the traditional idea of goldfish bowls, fancy goldfish generally need 20-30 gallons per fish, and 10 gallons for each additional fish.

I did do quit a lot of research, i'm not just one of those people who rushes into it, and wasn't thinking of breeding them right away, I was really just curious as to the species.
Anyway, according to the pet shop and to a load of sites a visited, my tank is big enough for 2, I didn't check to see if it were big enough for more but I think it may well be big enough for at least one more.

And hoorah! More time for me to look look a complete unreaserched idiot, sorry, but i can't find the answer to this question. I woke up this morning, and my slightly larger Oranda (i like saying that :)) was swimming fine, however then it sort of foated to the surface slowly (still the right way up) and stayed there for about 2 minutes mouth still moving and eye still moving. I was getting rather worried so i went up to the tank, and as soon as I did, she swam away just as normal. However since i got her, unlike my other Oranda, instead of stating put/sinking slightly when still, she does go upwards.
Is this a swim bladder problem (im fearing the worst), or could she justbe pregnant (researching signs now, very unlikely however she was in a tank with lots of others at the store)? I'm worried, but hopefully some helpful person will be able to clear this up for me? Thanks!

I have 2 fantails that do this once in awhile, you shouldnt worry unless they float to the top and can't get back down at all. Sometimes they just fill their swim bladder a little too much and float instead of staying in place. How big are your fish? They may not even be big enough to be pregnant.

Well, the fish in question is about 3 inches nose to end of tail fin, so yes it may be to small! I hope it is, because I'm definatley not ready for a pregnant fish yet!

Also, are people talking in US gallons on this forum? Just to check, gosh i hate being new...

Yup, its US gallons.... goldfish poop a LOT, so its important that they have pretty big tanks or the ammonia they give off will poison the water.
