I have 2" of red/black/brown flourite in my tank. I want to build it up because the tank's too tall for planing. What can I build it up with? I prefer not to use Flourite because it's a lot of rinsing, but if I have to I will. Just wondered if there was something else I could use to go on top of the existing flourite?
What substrate goes with Flourite?

mix anything you want really. I have all flourite in my tank and its great. Get a large rubbermaid tote and a heavy duty fish net. fill the tote with water and the new flourite.
scoop up flourite with the net and shake it underwater till it runs clear when you pull it out.
then add it to the tank with the net. very minimal clouding if at all. takes some time but its definitely worth it.
