What tall grass like plants can be grown in 1.8wpg?

I think most vals would do pretty well in that lighting and they also like harder water than most aquarium plants. I would lean toward jungle val as it is thick and may be more resistent to getting uprooted or munched by the fish.

What about corkscrew vals I am asking because petsmart sales them for .99

I have Valensia Americana that I harvested from a local lake growing like the weed it is in a tanks with just gravel no ferts or co2. Understand though I do not vaccum the gravel for a variety of reasons and it is a larger size rock. I have it growing in another tank with sand and smaller gravel and it does not seem to do as well.

The tank is 15 gallons withan 18 watt standard FL over top nothin fancy. The larger gravel allows stuff to sift to the bottom to turn into sludge and feeds the roots. It also makes it easier for the Val to send off shoots. All of the vals uyou see started from only 3 plants that did not reach the top of the tank.

Sounguru are you sure thats americana? doesnt look like jungle vall americana.
Anyways when you have too much and are ready to sell make sure to list some here I would deffinatly be interested:))

I have pool filter sand in mine....So you dont think vals will do good in that?

The tank I have Sand in they are not growing as fast nor spreading as quick... My swords love it though.:)

According to the Washing State Dept of Ecology the only Val we have up here, and it is an invasive, is Valensia Americana. It is only found in a few lakes on the west side where I live and I just happen to be with in driving distance of one. It is commonly called Jungle Val, but I have seen it called Corkscrew Val, Eel Grass, and Tape Grass to name a few.

I have crypt spiralis in lower light than that, ~ 1wpg. It's about 20 inches tall. I've only had it for several months but it's spreading a bit. I like it.

I also have crypt balansae but it doesn't seem really happy at that same 1wpg light, alive but not making runners, just leaves.

Onion plants grow well in low light and have tough leaves. There's a "dwarf" version that has long narrow leaves. They grow substantial root structures.
