my live rock is leaking something..i hate to be crude but it looks alot like sperm... at first a few months ago i figured my startfish was letting it go, and about 2-4 weeks later a saw many baby starfish, so i figured my first thought was right. but today i saw it was actaully comming off of the rock! its milky white but very transparent and dissipates fairly quickly into the water. it doesnt seem to harm anything as my clown fish were swimming around and through it and didnt seem to mind. any ideas on what it dould be?

At a guess, there's a worm living in a nook of the rock, or a snail, or a bivalve. Broadcasting of gametes is a pretty common form of reproduction for a variety of animals. Can you see anything in the area it's coming from?

Got any pics?

no it usually comes from holes that are hard to see in, or from flat surfaces that have nothing on them...and no pictures because the instances are few and far between and it dissipates very quickly...it doesnt seem to hurt anything and it hasnt escallated since the first time i noticed it... could it be harmfull?
