what to add to control molly popuation

Why don't you remove all of one sex?.

don't have enough tank room at the moment-that is- not enough tanks- when my ds upgrades to his 20 gallon I would like to talk him into taking my male and letting me take his two females platys- Of course, he has platys and guess what? they had babies!!!LOL!
I did wonder if they would do okay - I mean- all female without a male, and vice versa- The black molly and the sphenops molly I have are always together! Do they do okay without the other sex around? (okay-I can hear lots of jokes forming in all your minds-hehe---)
I do have the option, in the spring, of separating the M and F when my goldfish move out to the pond again. they are growing like weeds and I am making a bigger pond so they don't have to come inside next winter. So I will have another 30 gallon.
but in the meantime I need to get something to help out- I'm liking the danio idea-
AND I also like the idea of taking some of the wee ones to the LFS-
thanks to all of you for your suggestions!!!

Me again!
i have the Brachygobius xanthomelas-man they are cute little guys! 3 of them- I have had them for 3 months now and they are really fun to watch. I have a "salty" tank- but it's just aquarium salt- so- not brackish, right? just a little salt added during water changes. I did that a while ago to keep some ich at bay and it hasn't returned.

Danios!!! GREAT IDEA! I've had them before and they are a fun fish! and not too big-
thanks for the ideas!

I believe you'll be fine with Brachygobius xanthomelas and apistos (as long as they don't try to spawn) but stick to danios just to be safe. The aquarium salt is different from marine salt that we used for brackish and marine setups. It's just overpriced in comparison to table salt which is relatively cheaper. I still don't see why people avoid table salt but for the sake of this topic, I won't discuss further on this.:)

How about some german rams.
This one will work.:) You can keep one if you don't want the idea of them spawning and eventually harassing bottom dwellers.:) The only downside is that they do not often live long and are sensitive to water conditions in comparison to most popular apistos.

With a same sex group, they'd live just how any animal does that you don't want more of. Of course they like getting "it" ;);)
Doesn't mean they cannot live a happy life without.

If I get any livebearers...Certainly going with a same sex group.
