What to add?

37 gallon tank, pH 7.8 temp 76F large grain sand bottom with various plants and driftwood, moderate lighting and current

Current inhabitants that will stay: 3 otos, 3 botia striata, 1 BN pleco

My boyfriend would prefer something that will breed but I am open to any suggestions... no neon tetras, danios, or rasboras please since we already have those

live bearers are the only ones that you can raise the fry of in a community tank, and even then the fish like to eat fry(provide lots of bushy plants). go here to chose some fish, I can't decide for you.

Thank you for the list. I was not asking you to decide, I was just asking for suggestions from more experienced fish keepers what species might do well in a set up like mine. Also, the breeding doesn't have to be livebearing, we have another tank set up to rear fry (or hatch out eggs). I believe most tetras will not work because they prefer more acidic, softer water for breeding.

I wondered about cichlids but think they are more bottom dwelling and that level is already full. I wondered about rainbows but am not sure my tank is big enough or if the loaches would be too active for them. I thought killifish might be neat but know very little about them and read they only live one year. That is why I thought I would ask what people thought would do well with my pH, tank size, tank mates, etc.
