What to do with a moss ball...

you are supposed to rince your moss ball and squeeze the debris out of it so it doesn't get all crusty like that

I recently acquired a couple of marimo balls and i was wondering if there's any way to speed up its propagation. I'm putting them into little jars as decoration and i want to split some baby lumps and give them to my friends. is it better for them to grow lumps and then pull off or rip one apart?

I believe there is no way to speed that up. If you cut or tear up a ball into smaller pieces, it takes years for them to grow into spheres. That's where the symbolism comes from that are associated with them.

i don[t think so. i've heard that shrimp really love them.. i've noticed that my fish like to suck on the oxygen bubbles on the ball tho..

none of my fish feed on moss balls. well, actually my lung fish ate on, he swallowed it whole but he eats everything that goes in his tank. the new shrimps i got enjoy cleaning them.

how small can a tank be if i want to put in a shrimp? i want to see my marimo ball being enjoyed by a shrimp. dunno if it's a good idea to put it i with a fish tho. i hear the fish and shrimp don't get along. (no idea what fish i have btw, it's a small black one. yes i know this isn't very descriptive but i'm a complete newbie)
