I got a big chunk of mopani driftwood the other day and I hate that its a slab of wood. tyes it has cool detail, but its a hunk of wood with no form. one side is light and very cool, with small pieces sticking up, the other side is dark. I would love to some how carve out the dark and make this a log they can go in and out of.
here is the pics....

I would like to dig out the bottom to make it a log.... for the fish to go in and out of or the pleco as its just one slab of wood with no form, what do you think ??

I'd just find a use for it and get yourself another piece that is more log like.

really? so if I was to carve it would it hurt the wood or fish? its a nice piece of wood, just not what I was hoping for :( maybe I will just add moss to it and lay it down in one of the tanks.

Stand it up on a piece of slate...

Stand it up on a piece of slate...

yeah, your right!! it would look good standing up. I tried but it kept falling over. I will go look for slate and have my brother attach it. any special screws he should use? slate, hummmm wish we had a home depot here. I will try to find some somewhere.

dont think it would hurt it but it looks good i dont know what your worried about.

not worried at all, just wish it had a openings, for the fish to go in and under. I got 3 more pieces coming, this time a different wood. feller? maybe it will be more branched.
