I have a lot of snails in my tank that used to be the betta tank (betta died). It is currently housing only 2 pygmy cories until I get another betta. There are a ton of ramshorn snails that pile on top of the the food every time I throw some in for the cories, so I'm worried the cories aren't getting enough food. I want to eliminate some of the snails, but I hate to just throw them out and kill them. Also, if I throw them might they spread some disease into the environment?

Karen, see if a local fish store will buy them or trade for food, craigslist or similar sites, post a for sale/for free advert in the forum, check with local fish clubs if any available in your area.

The excess of snails suggest you are overfeeding the tank.
Two pygmy cories need very little food.
I would not worry about the snails outcompeting the cories for food. If the cories are hungry they will get to the food before the snails.
