What to do with fish I can't keep?

offer to give the stores the fish, just tell them you cant take them and you want them to be taken care of. Petsmart will probably take them for free if you act desperate enough.

the classified section can be hard to search, and if you mean your local classifieds people won't take fish even for free I have known people that have tried to do it before unless they are big boys or rare fish I don't understand it.

know any friends?relatives? if you are driving to your new house you can hire someone to transport the fish, maybe UPS does it.

Dump them in a local pond-Kidding!

Put the word out.

Ask neighbors, friends.

Put up signs at the fish shops 'FREE FISH TO GOOD HOME"

How far are you moving?

How far are you moving? I moved from Houston, TX to Western Oklahoma and back again with all of my fish. I did lose two fish due to unfortunate accidents, though, but the rest made it.

The add I was referring to is the one on this site. It's a two day drive. I can't set up new tanks in a hotel. That would also require 5 tanks because of the species I have.

How about a smaller LFS?

The big chain stores like petco and petsmart won't take fish, but I'm sure the smaller family owned ones will. Search for one close you and try.

You could also put an ad up offering the fish in your local paper.

There is only one smaller shop around. He doesn't do much freshwater and said he didn't want them. I may try an ad in the paper or a sign saying free fish at my yardsale. What should I do with any leftover fish?
