What to do with large, unwanted fish?

Petco + Petsmart will probobly accept them for free with open arms.

Don't just dump them, besides being bad for the fish and the enviorment, it is also illegal.

I know, I ruled that option out in my OP.

Interesting enough, depending on where you look, half that list already exists in the wild in Florida. :rofl:
But yeah, still a risk to the environment to release them.

I live in North Central Florida (for anybody with knowledge of the area, 35 miles southwest of Ocala).

The lakes around my house leech into the Withlacoochee, which has the Green Swamp at its head (one of the few rivers that flows South-North in this Hemisphere).

Introduced species are quite rare (compared to other parts of Florida) and our protection agency is pretty steadfast at enforcing the laws (thankfully). The only thing that lives here that isn't from here (in large numbers) are Plecos and some Walking Cats...

Yup unfortunately there's already a major issue of nonnative species in florida's waterways.

I agree with above, just call the non-chain pet stores and tell them your situation and see if they'll take them off your hands.

If I were you i'd get a PayPal account set up (if you don't already have one) and make a post in the classified forum, ask people to pay for shipping costs, then read through the "how to ship fish" posts and bingo!

As I stated before, these fish you have aren't tankbusters (aside from the pleco) and that it'll be a lot easier to rehome them than tankbusters.
