What to do with my eclipse filter...

Would it be possible to convert my eclipse filter to some sort of biological filtration? I was wondering if I could take out the carbon filter and put some LR pieces in it's place. How much light does the LR need? I don't think it would get much light in there... The tank is cycling so I think for now I'll leave the carbon in there but I'm thinking about the long run. Oh and I do not want to get rid of the hood all together Thanks, Kat

personally i would burn the entire thing...lol sry i just hate the poor design of the eclipse systems...they are almost completely useless for saltwater. but u can pull the lights out and retrofit in some better lights and the filter could hold some media like a carbon bag or live rock and add additional flow. if u have enough live rock in there and some power heads ull probably be fine without it though.

Hey germannman! I have an eclipse hood too and my 29 gallon has 30 lbs of liverock. So will it be a good idea to put some rubble in the carbon slot?

yea its not to deep to put live rock but the filter pads arent that great either. id get rid of it if it was me but if ur gona keep with it live rock rubble would help out a bit.

Yeah already took out pads now its just for flow
