Would it be possible to convert my eclipse filter to some sort of biological filtration? I was wondering if I could take out the carbon filter and put some LR pieces in it's place. How much light does the LR need? I don't think it would get much light in there... The tank is cycling so I think for now I'll leave the carbon in there but I'm thinking about the long run. Oh and I do not want to get rid of the hood all together :) Thanks, Kat

personally i would burn the entire thing...lol sry i just hate the poor design of the eclipse systems...they are almost completely useless for saltwater. but u can pull the lights out and retrofit in some better lights and the filter could hold some media like a carbon bag or live rock and add additional flow. if u have enough live rock in there and some power heads ull probably be fine without it though.

Hey germannman! I have an eclipse hood too  and my 29 gallon has 30 lbs of liverock. So will it be a good idea to put some rubble in the carbon slot?

Depens on me as in it makes little difference?

Yeah already took out pads now its just for flow
