I would just let them float if it was me. My dwarf gourami likes building bubbles nests out of anything to pull out of the ground. I gave up fighting with him and replant them on water change day once a week. They actually grow get really colorful on the surface from all the light, kind of like when your plants mature and reach to the top and the tips get really colorful. But you have a lot more watts them me so it probably wouldn't do much. As for them being crooked don't worry they will straighten after a day or two.
