What to feed Discus?

This is what I have in the house right now. Tetra Colorbits, everything else is from Kensfish.com: Premium Sinking Bits, Premium Spirulina Wafers, Premium Cichlid Mix, Premium 5 Stick Blend (cichlid sticks, spirulina sticks, color sticks, earthworm sticks, and veggie sticks), Premium Cichlid Pellets 3.5mm, Sinking Pellets with Brine Shrimp. I also have fresh caught coldwater fish (yellow perch and walleye). Just caught yesterday. I am just not sure if it is safe to feed them. I do not have anything frozen right now. Can I use freeze dried?

What else do I need?

I don't like the Tetra brands. Plenty of trashy ingredients in their products IMO. The others will work just fine. Other brands that get my recommendation are Hikari, Omega and NLS. For frozen, I'd do bloodworms, blackworms, daphnia and shrimps. Beefhearts and chopped earthworms also work. And I don't feed my fish freeze-dried foods much except the shrimps (still redundant to fresh ones from wet markets but can be used if I am in a hurry).

Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef Flake, NLS cichlid pellets (1mm sinking), frozen bloodworms, frozen brine shrimp, frozen spirulina brine shrimp, blackworms, beefheart mixes that are heavy on seafood (cod/wild salmon, raw shrimp/prawns).

So saltwater fish only? I know no tropical fish for snacks because of the chance of parasites, but wasn't sure about coldwater fresh.

Oh and can I do freeze dried instead/ as well as frozen? My LFS carries freeze dried bloodworms but frozen I will have to order online.

I don't see why you cannot use the fresh fish. These are kept frozen to maintain freshness and no parasites can survive frigid cold temperature at all. You could try the freeze dried stuff, Sam but discus in my experience prefer fresh ones.

What size will they be? Frozen bloodworms, blackworms <discus crack!>, a good quality micro pellet <I use NLS and ken's> or flake is fine. Mine won't eat most of the stuff mentioned above. Discus have small mouths. Mine initially would eat some beefheart but that stuff is MESSY and I prefer different worms to it as well as a good staple dry diet. I will also feed some daphnia.

Thanks Lupin. I think I will just order some of the frozen blood worms and go with them and the night crawlers as far as "worms" go. I have to make up some "mix" today and most recipes call for vitamins. I have a jar of children's vitamins that I just bought but my kids refuse to eat. They claim they don't taste good! Imagine that. Anyway, can I add some of those? Or does it need to be Adult?
