What to feed Discus?

What size will they be?2 1/2" Frozen bloodworms, blackworms <discus crack!>, a good quality micro pellet <I use NLS and ken's>Which NLS? I also have Ken's Betta Slow Sinking Pellet will that work? or flake is fine Which?. Mine won't eat most of the stuff mentioned above. Discus have small mouths. Mine initially would eat some beefheart but that stuff is MESSY and I prefer different worms to it as well as a good staple dry diet. I will also feed some daphnia.

To be honest, I would rather not do all of the beefheart stuff, but I also want to make sure they get what they need.

Hmmm..Could you please post all the information of these vitamins? Some of us do use adult multivitamins for gel food recipes. I never tried gel foods to discus so I really can't figure out if they would ever try that stuff. My discus were a little picky about their foods too.

make your own food! seafood beefheart mix..

then you can also feed tetra color bits and ocean nutrition flake food great combo i promise

Ok the vitamins per 1 tablet: Vitamin A 2500 IU, Vitamin C 60 mg, Vitamin D 400 IU, Vitamin E 15 IU, Thiamin (B1) 1.05 MG, Riboflavin (B2) 1.2MG, Niacin13.5 MG, B6 1.05 MG, Folic Acid 300 MG, Vitamin B12 4.5 MCG, Carbohydrate <1G.

Other ingredients:Sucrose, dextrose, punch flavor (artificial and natural), silica, yellow 6 Lake (orange), Red 40 Lake (red), magnesium sterate, hydrogenated cottonseed oil, red 40 Lake and Blue 2 Lake (purple).

I think a varied diet is important for them, as to all fish.

My discus get:
frozen bloodworms and frozen brine shrimp
live blackworms
tetra color bits
beefheart/fish/shrimp/veggie mix that I make myself which also contains spirulina and adult multivitamins. I make about six months' worth at a time and freeze about 1/8" thick in freezer bags...it's messy to feed but really puts the thickness into the discus

Snoopy - I feed mine NLS Discus Formula (http://www.petsolutions.com/default.aspx?ItemId=87940710&EID=87940710&SID=FROOGLE) which is a 1mm sinking, non-polluting pellet they love, they blow them off the bottom. Ocean Nutrition Brine Shrimp Plus Flakes (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=8129).
Hikari frozen blood worms which are gut loaded with vitamins before processed (http://www.hikariusa.com/products/bio-pure/bio-pure_blood_worms.php) and live white worms (enchytraeus albidus). bloodworms is the main dinner meal 5 nights a week, and white worms is the main dinner meal 2 nights a week.

They're all different in what they like. Mine wouldn't touch beefheart after tasting frozen bloodworms, they don't like color bits or any other large container of fish flakes that I have managed to waste money on.

I sell parts of my cultures, I have 3 going and they get too big. The problem is, they don't tolerate warm temperatures at all, so I don't ship them during the warm months. We could try overnight shipping, I have a ton of those small freezer packs that Drs F&S packs the bloodworms with. My starter cultures were purchased off of aquabid and they send you such a small culture that it takes months to get them started. They sell something like a "full tablespoon" of worms for about $20. I sell a ziploc plastic container, which is like 4" x 4" chock full of worms for the same price.

I forgot to tell you I tried earthworms one night, yukky, yukky chopping earthworms!!!! And I had to fish the piecs out of the water later:thumbsdown:.
