what to feed my silver arowana?

And Sabrina,
I may be the owner of the tank you are referring to, in my aquarium specs at least- I had a 450g set up but recently had to part with it when I moved- It was housing an Electric Blue X-back Asian Arowana that I had since a juvenile. I am very upset that they are illegal here.

Not sure on gettin more. I heard they can get aggresive with eachother. I plan to put my bala and the 17 inch pleco in with him and have the oscars and the 14 inch pleco in the 150. Guess we'll wait and see.

Hey travelinman, are you going to put some more aros in once you get the larger tank? 500g could certainly fit a nice size group of them. And 1tankneverenuff, you really have them with the sacs? That is kind of strange, they have a pretty low survival rate when they are that young in home aquariums. Are they doing well?

I haven't had them long, but they seem to be doing quite fine. They stay active so I'd say all is well for now. All I can ever seem to find in my area is very small Silver Arowana's such as these. I had a pair of them a while back, and unfortunately they died being as fragile as they are it's hard. I hope these little ones last, I love these fish! I wish I could get a variety of Arowana's though :(. And I don't understand your previous post...that Arowana you had is illegal to own in the U.S.?

Yeah the United States has an sales ban on the Asian Arowana since it is listed as an appendix I endangered species. Silver and Australian are perfectly legal, however- I believe the black are as well, but I do not have much experience with them. The only way you can purchase the Asians will eventually be through CITES registered exporters, which have bred the fish primarily for conservation - Unfortunately this is not allowed yet, and the prices top US$8,000. The jardinis are an okay alternative, but just not the same. You are fine with the silvers, dont worry! You should try to get a nice size tank for them though, that may be why some are dying on you. If you can afford a 150 that would be good- You could find one for under $800 with tank/stand included.
