Hi, i'm wondering what should i feed my juvenille arowana? He's about 5 inches long. I was told by two different fish stores to feed him different things. One said to feed him guppies, the other said to feed him live brine shrimp. Should i just feed him both guppies and brine shrimp? Or should i stick with freeze-dried foods? or pellets?

Prepared foods would be preferable, since it allows you to control nutrition as well as prevent disease. Stick to meatier preparations, and offer live crickets as an occassional treat. Variety is best for long term health, and feeders don't offer much variety. They can be costly, and possibly introduce diseases and parasites to your fish.
doesnt some dude on here have something like a 500gallon tank withe 4foot arowana that he raised from like 3inches ? he'd probably be able to tell you all kinds of stuff.
If you have the resources and you are interested, I would breed your own feeders for it- but like OrionGirl says, you will have to balance it out with pellets to ensure nutrient intake

u could have like 100 neons in there lets see 10 pairs of rams um whole herds of cories and like 15 bettas maybe like 50 gouramis umm lets see toss in some plecs and maybe some clown loaches and id be set!!

It's a 150 going to a 600-700 next year. He's currently 22 inches and I got him at 15 inches.
Anyways I feed mine everything from shrimp and chicken to crickets and worms. At his size I would keep to pellets and small peices of chicken and shrimp. I don't think he's big enough for crickets yet and might be picky on worms. The brine shrimp and that are not a good choice because he probably won't eat it all and you'll have a mess for a tank, unless you have something cleaning the bottom. About 3-4 bite size peices of meat every 2-3 days is good, pellets on the days off. Be prepared for a lifetime commitment. They grow very large and live for a long time. As I said mine is in a 150 now, going to a 500-600 and he will get about 3-4 feet in length. Most sites say they will only get about 24-28 inches, but I've heard otherwise, and I'm preparing for the worst case. Also, mine is with 2 oscars and they eat what he doesn't.

Mine still have their sacks! Measure about 1"-1.25" each

And 1tankneverenuff, you really have them with the sacs? That is kind of strange, they have a pretty low survival rate when they are that young in home aquariums. Are they doing well?
